The weather looks reliable for the League this week, which is excellent news as we have a great race programme, albeit last week's brought forward, most notably the Points Championship. We also hope to celebrate, belatedly, the achievement of one of our League members. If your name is Pete Baker, of the Lewes Wanderers, then we apologise to you for not being able to mark the 50th anniversary since your first League race night. It is Championship night and Championships mean double points for the main Championship Races. In a departure from the past few seasons the Senior Open Championship is separate to the C and B points races, which are standard format and points. Any Senior, or permitted Youth, can take part in the A race where the winner will receive 60 points with generous allocation all the way down to 10th. Youth Minor and Major are Championship races and also attract double points with there being both boy and girl champion positions for each race. In the Women's category the Champion will be the highest placed woman in the highest categorised race, thus if you race (and finish) the A race you are ahead of any female rider in the B or C race. (Remember, you have to finish the race to qualify for the championships and the points.
The second Youth race is a combined Hare and Hounds with the Minor riders needing to complete 3 laps whilst the Major riders need to ride 4 laps, and therefore catch and pass the Minors to gain league points. We will issue four spot prizes for this race.
Next up are C and A Scratch Eliminations. These will work on a format where there will be equal numbers of Scratch laps followed by Elimination laps and finishing with Scratch laps. Hence, 2, 2, 2 for the 6 lap C race and 3, 3, 3 for the As. Bs can chose which race to take part in, thereby offering a tactical opportunity to maximise your League points on the night.
We continue the night with a 3 lap dash, all Senior categories, and finish the night with two Unknowns. Again Bs can chose where they wish to pitch their efforts. There will be two primes in each race. Prizes for the C race and Cash for the As.
