How the Circuit Race League Works
The League Format
The SCRL Circuit League runs across 14 races throughout the season.
Riders score points at each round, and the rider with the highest total at the end of the series is crowned the league champion.
You don’t need to race every round — but consistent attendance and finishing strongly will boost your overall score.
Prize categories include:
Separate Mens E/1/2 and 3/4 prizes
Women (all race results are added together, including Open results)
Youth
Team prizes
Volunteers
Bonus prizes

How Points Are Awarded Each Round
1️⃣ Placing Points (Top 10)
We use the British Cycling Band 5 points scale — the same system used for Regional C+ circuit races
2️⃣ Starting Points
To reward commitment and consistency, every rider who starts the race earns: +5 Starting Points
This means:
A rider outside the top 10 still earns 5 points
A rider in the top 10 earns placing points + 5
Ties are broken by:
Number of wins
Number of podiums
Head‑to‑head results
Moving From the 3/4 Race Into the E/1/2/3 Race
Riders who start the season in the Category 3/4 race and later move up into the E/1/2/3 race will keep all the league points they have already earned. Your points follow you automatically.
This means:
If you begin the league racing in the 3/4 event, every placing point and every starting point you earn counts toward your category 3/4 league total.
If you are later promoted to Category 2, your 3/4 points carry over, into the E/1/2/3 league
If you are a 3rd cat rider and you choose to race in the E/1/2/3 event, your points continue and are added to the 3/4 league where you left off.
If promoted to 2nd cat, you remain eligible for the E/1/2/3 league prize, even though some of your points were earned in the 3/4 races.
Club Prize
Points for the Club Prize are calculated differently from individual league points. Instead of adding up every rider’s score, each club earns points based on the highest‑placed rider from that club in each race, regardless of category.
How It Works
In every race, across all categories (3/4 and E/1/2/3), each club is awarded points based on the best finishing position of any of its riders.
Only the single highest‑placed rider per club counts for that race.
These points are then added together across all 14 races to produce the final club standings.
Example Scenario
In a given race:
Club A’s best rider finishes 3rd → Club A scores 7 points
Club B’s best rider finishes 6th → Club B scores 4 points
Club C’s best rider finishes 12th → Club C scores 5 finisher points (if you apply finisher points to club scoring)
Even if Club A had riders finishing 3rd, 5th, and 9th, only the 3rd‑place result counts for the club.
Volunteer Prize Structure
Prizes for volunteers are awarded based on the number of occasions they have volunteered during the 14‑race series.
