Rider Briefing

Sign-on: Opens 09:30am
10.30: Racing starts
12.30: There may be a break for officials
14.30: (Estimate) Racing ends and the prize giving for both the Omnium and Track League will take place (for those main category winners present). Those League category winners absent, and race Championship medallists, will be offered a further opportunity to receive recognition in the autumn.

Points

Points structure for all events except Points Race shall be:

1st - 40
2nd - 38
3rd - 36
4th - 34
5th - 32
6th - 30
7th - 28
8th - 26
9th - 24
10th - 22
11th - 20
12th - 18
13th - 16
14th - 14
15th - 12
16th - 10
17th - 8
18th - 6
19th - 4
20th - 2

Riders placed 21st and below shall each be awarded 1 point.

Event 1: Scratch

In the case of the Scratch Race, a rider losing two laps shall be withdrawn. That rider will be allocated the next available ranking after all riders who finished.

Event 2: 1 Lap TT

Riders who do not set a time in the time trial (for example who false start twice) shall be placed last and awarded 0 points but may continue in the competition. There will be held starts for this race.

Event 3: Elimination

No specific scoring requirements.

Event 4: Australian pursuit

Race principles:

This is a 7 lap race for Senior races. 3 & 4 for Minor & Major.
There will be a sequence of races with 6 riders in each race, where possible.
Riders start at equal intervals around the track, all at the same time.
All riders must arrange their own holder, can be pushed, and must start from the bottom of the track.
If a rider is caught by the rider behind, they are eliminated and leave the track.
The race continues as the field gets smaller.
The last rider remaining wins and scores maximum points.
Rider positions will be marked by chalk on the track and arranged as following here: Rider 1 Start line, Rider 2 97m, Rider 3 193m, Rider 4 290m, Rider 5 387m, Rider 6 483m
If more than one rider remains to the end of the race the riders must complete their final lap, back to where they started, to record a time to determine finishing positions.
The order that riders are caught and leave the track determines the event placings

The overall Omnium standings will be used to determine the starting order. Riders will be placed in order around the track, so that:

1st is chasing 2nd
2nd is chasing 3rd
3rd is chasing 4th
and so on…

Every rider is chasing the rider immediately below them in the overall standings, while being chased by the rider immediately above them. The exception is the leader/last-place pair created by the circular track, in which case the last placed rider is simply attempting to hold off being caught by the next placed rider.

Event 5: Points race

There shall be an agreed number of sprint laps per race on pre-determined laps equally spread out by distance, with the first four riders over the line gaining 5, 3, 2, 1 points respectively except for the final sprint on the last lap where points of 10, 6, 4 and 2 points respectively shall be awarded.

Riders gaining a lap on the main field shall be awarded 10 points per lap gained. Riders losing a lap on the field shall be deducted 10 points per lap lost.

The actual points attained by each rider in the race shall be added to their cumulative score for the first four events.

Riders failing to finish the points race will be placed after the last placed finishing rider, in order of points scored.

Final placings

The rider with the highest cumulative points total shall be declared the winner.

In cases of equal points, the placing of each rider in the final completed event run shall determine the final overall placing of those riders.

General notes

In any race where riders cannot be placed individually, all such riders shall be awarded the same number of points as the highest placed rider in that group.

Any rider not finishing an event due to a fall or a puncture in the last 2 laps will be allocated the next available ranking (and points) considering the laps taken and the number of riders remaining on the track at this moment.

Riders not contesting all races shall be placed in the overall standings in order after those who started all the races. This order will be dependent on 1) the number of races started and 2) points scored.
