Results and more from 5th August and 28th July

Results from 28th July have only recently been updated alongside last week's results (5th August) revealing the League standings with two weeks of racing left. This means results for the Australian Pursuit and the Held Start Timed Lap are available. A difference for the results is the addition of a new feature which we hope to build on over the years. This is a spreadsheet with the one lap times which is hosted on the SCRL squarespace website, separate to the Timing website where most of our online activity takes place.

To our knowledge the held start timed lap has never featured at Wednesday Track League but we hope this feature of the League, and its associated records may build over time. A similar feature has long existed on the PPYCC website with times stretching back to 2008, not long enough ago to cover any of the Senior A or B riders but a few of our Younger Senior Cs and most of our Youth riders can look here to find there one lap times from PPYCC Saturday morning club sessions. Thus Jack Smith, fastest one lap time on the 28th July (46.55 seconds), is unable to compare his times as he had left PPYCC by 2005.

What is notable from the last two weeks of racing is that the League isn't yet won in two of the three main racing categories (Senior, Major and Minor). In the Seniors I, at least, am surprised to find Nathan Cozens is now in joint first place with Freddie Hick and Harley Clarke is now, a not distant, third. More importantly, for this podium, is that Clive Spicer, in fourth place, is only two points behind Harley. Miss one of the final two evenings and this could all change, though I think all of the top four would have to stay at home to allow fifth placed, and League Leader for most of the season, Jack Patten to regain his top spot.

Whereas the Majors looks fairly settled in the positions there is no relaxing for the Minors. With Thor Spicer only 4 points ahead of Jack Harris, this competition will go to the wire, or Week 18 as we call it.
